Dude Looks Like a Lady
In our Bible study last night we looked at 1 Corinthians 11 and saw how the blurring of gender roles and distinctions can be a big problem, even in the church. The main summary statement we used to help us understand this passage was, "the Church glorifies God when it follows the model of the Trinity rather than the trends of the culture."
think hope pray that this trend was a thing of the past, I came across this gem today from the New York Times. Al Mohler, president of The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary gives his excellent commentary here.
Can't we just go back to the good old days when kids just wore gang attire to school?

Why Orphan Sunday?
Religion that is pure and undefiled before God, the Father, is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world. James 1:27
Learn to do good; seek justice, correct oppression; bring justice to the fatherless, plead the widow’s cause. Isaiah 1:17
Father of the fatherless and protector of widows is God in his holy habitation. Psalm 68:5

PERSONAL AND FAMILY DEVOTIONS
Verses, passages and even books of the Bible do not stand by themselves. They are all linked under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit to magnify Jesus Christ. This week’s passages help us to see the parallel between the tabernacle and the saving work of Christ as it is presented in the New Testament.

SONG OF WORSHIP
Holy, Holy, Holy
Reginald Heber
Holy, holy, holy! Lord God Almighty!
Early in the morning our song shall rise to Thee;
Holy, holy, holy, merciful and mighty!
God in three Persons, blessèd Trinity!
Holy, holy, holy! All the saints adore Thee,
Casting down their golden crowns around the glassy sea;
Cherubim and seraphim falling down before Thee,
Who was, and is, and evermore shall be.
Holy, holy, holy! though the darkness hide Thee,
Though the eye of sinful man Thy glory may not see;
Only Thou art holy; there is none beside Thee,
Perfect in power, in love, and purity.
Holy, holy, holy! Lord God Almighty!
All Thy works shall praise Thy Name, in earth, and sky, and sea;
Holy, holy, holy; merciful and mighty!
God in three Persons, blessèd Trinity!
